1) EBBS supports standard xmodem based protocols. These include:
a) Xmodem CRC
b) Xmodem 1k
c) Ymodem batch (Single file)
d) Zmodem (Single file)
2) A download ratio is active. For every 25 kilobytes you
download, you are required to upload 1k (1,024 bytes). When you
have exceeded the ratio, the system will tell you how much you need
to Upload in order to Download.
3) I suggest using 1k block protocols if they are available for your
computer with the terminal you are using. The fastest protocols are
Zmodem, ymodem batch and xmodem 1k. They operate at about 90%
efficiency (speed wise). Others operate at about 75% efficiency.
These are CLEAN line estimates by the way. If you have nasty lines
then use zmodem or xmodem crc, whichever you have.
Conclusion: Be fair and upload once in a while. The files you
download are files that others were considerate enough to upload.
